How it works
Leave types and balances
- Set up your own leave types, each with its default number of days and whether it is paid.
- Each person sees how many days they have left.
- An admin can correct a balance by hand when needed.
Requests and approvals
- A request counts working days only, skipping weekends and the public holidays of the person's country.
- Half days count as half days.
- Admins hear about a new request, approve or reject it, and the person who asked gets an email either way.
- A leave can be cancelled, and documents such as a medical note can be attached to it.
Public holidays by country
Holiday calendars are kept per country, so a team spread across several countries gets the right days off for each person without anyone keeping a spreadsheet.
Reports and heads-ups
- A leave report you can filter and export.
- Admins get a short note on the morning someone on the team is on leave.
- Clients see when people on their projects are away, in the client portal.
Time off that is worked back
Some teams let people take a few hours off and make them up later. BetterFlow records those hours, keeps a balance of what is still owed, and has its own report.

Questions
Can people take half a day off?
Yes. A request has a start and end time, and BetterFlow counts half days as well as whole ones.
Are public holidays handled?
Yes. Each person has a country, and the public holidays for that country are left out when the days of a request are counted.
Who is told about a request?
Admins are notified when a request comes in, and the person who asked is told when it is approved or rejected. Admins also get a heads-up on the morning someone is on leave.
Is leave management a separate product?
No. It is part of BetterFlow, at the same price as the timesheets.
