Connect Claude or Cursor to BetterFlow

Ask your AI assistant about your projects, budgets, timesheets and leave, in plain words, and get answers from your own BetterFlow data. It takes one token and one command.

Read-only: the assistant can see what you can see in BetterFlow, nothing more. It cannot log time or change anything.

What you can ask

The assistant picks the right one of eight read-only tools. Here is what each answers.

“Which projects can I ask about?”

Lists the projects you can see, with their ids.

“What did the team deliver this week?”

Hours and work items per project, or per person, for any date range.

“Which projects are close to their budget?”

Budget hours, hours used and remaining, and this month's hours against the team's monthly cap.

“Who is over capacity this month, and who logged overtime?”

Hours logged against capacity per person, plus the overtime the app flagged.

“Who is on leave in the next 30 days?”

Approved leave with dates, type and days. The reasons stay private and are never returned.

“Who has not filled in their timesheet this week?”

Working days with no entry, per person and project. Weekends, public holidays and approved full-day leave are not counted.

“Draft this week's report for a client project.”

Hours, who worked, highlights from the entries, budget position, missing days and next week's leave, with a draft you can edit and send.

“How many billable hours did we approve last month?”

Approved billable hours per client and project. Hours only, no rates or amounts.

Connect in three steps

1. Create a token

Sign in to BetterFlow and open your Profile page. In the section called “Connect an AI assistant”, give the token a name, choose when it expires (30, 90 or 365 days), enter your current password and select “Create token”. Copy the token straight away. It is shown once.

The section only appears for company admins and client users. Employees do not see it.

2. Add BetterFlow to your assistant

The server address is https://betterflow.eu/api/mcp. Replace YOUR_TOKEN with the token you copied.

Claude Code

Run this in a terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http betterflow https://betterflow.eu/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json inside one project):

{
    "mcpServers": {
        "betterflow": {
            "url": "https://betterflow.eu/api/mcp",
            "headers": {
                "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"
            }
        }
    }
}

3. Ask a question

Start with “Which projects are close to their budget?” The assistant calls BetterFlow and answers from your data. Treat the token like a password, and revoke it from your Profile page when you no longer need it.

Who sees what

  • Company admins can ask about every project and person in their company.
  • Client users can ask only about their own projects.
  • Nobody can reach another company's data.

Questions

Can the assistant change anything in BetterFlow?

No. The connection is read-only. It cannot log time, approve anything or edit anything. It only reads what your own account can see.

Who can connect an assistant?

Company admins, who see the whole company, and client users, who see only their own projects. Employees cannot create a token. A deactivated account cannot connect.

Can I see data from another company?

No. A token is limited to the company of the person who created it.

What if I lose the token or want to stop access?

Revoke it from the same section of your Profile page. A token also stops working if your account is deactivated or loses access, and it expires on the date you chose.

Does it work with the Claude web or desktop app?

We have tested Claude Code and Cursor only, so those are the two on this page. Other tools that accept a bearer token header may work, but we have not tried them.

Connect your AI assistant to BetterFlow

We set BetterFlow up with you on a short call. The first 6 months are complimentary, counted from when you accept your invitation and create your account. In that time you only pay Google for the AI you use, with your own key. Prefer a walkthrough first? Book a demo.

After that, €29 a month for your whole company, not per person.

See the full price on the pricing page, or read how the AI timesheet check works.
